The Choral Groups
At the core of our activities is a program of high quality music education and choral training. The following five choruses and opera workshop enable children to move on to new knowledge and challenges as they gain mastery of musical skills and stage presence and progress in their ability to perform more challenging choral literature.
The Treble Chorus of New England Training Choir
Conducted by Valerie J. Becker, Accompanied by Monica Wallace
The Training Choir is for less experienced younger singers (ages 7-9). It helps them expand their vocal powers, develop greater understanding of the stage, and build a solid foundation of music literacy for the future. They are taught fundamental music skills and concepts.
The Treble Chorus of New England Concert Choir
Conducted by Valerie J. Becker, Accompanied by Monica Wallace
The Concert Choir is the larger, intermediate ensemble (ages 10-18), which helps children expand their music literacy and develop a greater understanding of their role on the stage. The chorus sings in six languages and more advanced members participate in tours. It is open to members through age 18 who wish to continue their choral training but cannot make the more intensive committment required by Schola.
The Treble Chorus of New England Schola
Conducted by Heather Chu, Accompanied by Thomas C. Lissey
The Treble Chorus of New England Schola is the major performing ensemble for older singers (ages 12-18) who are engaged in more advanced repertory and music skills. Schola requires fine vocal skills, sings in eight languages (including Japanese), and is the touring chorus of TCNE.
The Opera Cast
Directed and conducted by Valerie J. Becker
The Pirates of Penzance, by Gilbert and Sullivan.
